FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions prospective clients ask most.
How are you paid?
A single advisory fee based on assets under management — see the Fees & Minimums page. We receive no commissions, no product payments, and no third-party compensation of any kind. Your fee is our only revenue.
Are you a fiduciary?
Yes, at all times and on every account. As a registered investment advisor, Resonance Financial is legally obligated to act in your best interest — unlike brokers, who are only required to recommend products that are "suitable."
Where is my money held?
At Charles Schwab, in accounts titled in your name. Resonance Financial never takes custody of client funds and can never withdraw money from your accounts, other than the disclosed advisory fee you authorize.
What is your account minimum?
$1 million in investable assets, unless a specific arrangement is accepted. For those who don't need discretionary management, stand-alone financial planning is available at $350 per hour with a $3,500 minimum.
How is this different from a big firm like Fisher or Merrill?
You work directly with the founder — a CFA charterholder who personally manages your portfolio — instead of a rotating cast of relationship managers executing a home-office model. Decisions are made by the person you actually talk to.
Do you handle financial planning or just investments?
Both. Goal-based planning — retirement income, cash flow, taxes, charitable giving — is included in the advisory fee, not sold separately.
What happens in the first meeting?
A conversation, not a pitch. We discuss your situation and goals, and you'll get an honest assessment of whether we're the right fit. There is no obligation and nothing to sign.
Can you work with my CPA and attorney?
Yes, and we prefer to. Coordinating with your tax and legal advisors is part of the service, particularly around tax-aware trading, charitable strategies, and estate considerations.
